Hamburger Soup Recipe Collection

To be honest with you, before I started putting together this website I’d never heard of hamburger soup. I’ve never really been much of a soup eater (drinker?) myself, and had definitely never thought of adding ground beef to a soup.

To me a hamburger was something you ate at the beach after a good session in the surf…

But when I started reading about all the different hamburger soup recipes people were cooking up, I figured I might as well put together a hamburger soup recipe collection of my own.

So here they are – I’m still not a big fan of soup, so I haven’t put many any of these to the test. But the selection of recipes here covers a pretty wide base so you shouldn’t have a whole lot of trouble find a hamburger soup flavor to suit your needs.

  • Zingy Slow Cooker Hamburger Soup

Slow cookers are perfect for cooking soups that use ground beef – the longer you can leave that meat soaking in the soup, the juicier and more flavorsome it’s going to become.

  • President Ronald Reagan's Hamburger Soup Recipe

So when I last checked, this recipe had five reviews – four of them were 5 stars and one of them was 3 stars (must have been a Democrat). Overall the feedback seems good…and if you can’t trust a President to steer you towards a good recipe for hamburger soup who can you trust?

  • Abalos-Style Hamburger Soup (Picadillo Filipino) Recipe

This recipe is a bit of a fusion of Latin American & Filipino flavors, with Picadillo being a dish that’s common to both of these regions. From what I can tell Abalos is a place in the Rioja region of Spain, so I guess that’s where the Latin influence originated.

  • John Elway’s Hamburger Soup

This recipe is from the NFL Family Cookbook which was released in late 1997 – just months before Elway finally won that first Superbowl. We figure that’s gotta be a good omen, right?. If it’s good enough for the NFL Family Cookbook, it’s good enough for us.

  • Beefy Wild Rice Soup

There’s few things better than hot soup in the depths of winter, and this recipe adds a little spice and some wild rice to create a delicious dish that you’re going to love.

  • Hamburger Mushroom Soup

This is an easy recipe that gets cooked up in a Dutch oven. It’ll be a real favorite for anyone who loves mushrooms.

  • Homemade Hamburger Soup With Quinoa

I remember a couple of years ago Quinoa seemed to be all the rage – every TV chef and their dog were talking up the benefits to your health of eating this ‘miracle’ grain.

And while I’m sure all those claims were true, in the end the taste of a meal is the main thing that effects whether or not you eat it, and this recipe looks alright.

  • Crock Pot Hamburger Minestrone Soup Recipe

Minestrone is usually a nice and chunky vegetable soup, so it makes sense to throw in some ground beef and turn it into a hearty and delicious hamburger minestrone soup.

  • Hamburger, Macaroni, And Bean Soup Recipe

Mac’ n Cheese is a great side dish to have with a burger or meat patty. So it doesn’t take a creative genius to figure out that macaroni is probably going to work well in some kid of ground beef soup like this one. And beans work well in any soup so they make a nice addition here.

  • Hamburger Soup With Black-Eyed Peas and Kale

Sounds like you’re getting your soup with a side of musician…but no, black-eyed peas and kale in this case are more ingredients for your soup. And they taste pretty good.

Do I need to explain this one? If it says ‘bestest’ it must be pretty good, right?

  • Family Hamburger Soup

I’m not too sure what makes a soup a ‘family’ soup – maybe it’s the ease of cooking, maybe it’s the healthy ingredients. Whatever it is this is a recipe is definitely worth checking out for one reason in my books – it uses Worcestershire sauce which is without a doubt one of the most under-used cooking ingredients and definitely a favorite of mine.

  • Canadian Hamburger Soup

No this soup does not contain maple syrup or Canadian bacon, and it’s cooked in a Dutch oven so I’m not sure what’s Canadian about it. But hey, we’ll just go with it…

  • Slow Cooker Hamburger Soup with Buns and Corn on the Cob

This isn’t just a soup, it’s an entire meal, and a delicious one at that. Using the slow cooker really gives the ground beef the chance to soak up some of the flavors from the cumin, garlic and broth. And there are some unique ingredients here like the beans in maple syrup that give the recipe points for originality. Definitely worth checking out.

  • Zesty Hamburger Soup for Slow Cooker Saturdays

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for any recipe that uses the word ‘Zesty’ in it’s title. If you are too, go and check this recipe out.

  • Cheesy Hamburger Soup

When you’re talking about soups, I don’t think using cheese as an ingredient is the first thing that comes to mind. And that’s exactly why I’ve included this recipe here. Also, this recipe comes from an Amish cookbook – if you’ve never tried an Amish meal before, here’s your chance.

  • Italian-Style Hamburger Soup

I had to include an Italian style recipe in the list – while Italian cuisine is known for it’s pasta, the soups are also pretty good.

  • Spanish Hamburger Soup Recipe

And if I’m going to add an Italian recipe, I had to include a Spanish one as well to make sure that I was being fair.

  • Hearty Hamburger Soup

Hamburger soups in general are pretty hearty. This one includes potatoes so it has no trouble backing up its ‘hearty’ credentials. If you’re looking for a chunky soup this one looks good.

Tomato based soups work very well with ground beef. This one is extremely simple, and if you like V8 juice it’s probably going to be right up your alley.
